Janet...

Simple. Earthy. Beautiful. This is what comes to mind when I think of Janet Jackson's self titled Album "Janet". Yes, there are great memorable songs on that album like the infectious "That's the way love goes" and "If" which had the most imitated dance moves at the time, but what really made an impression on me was Janet's overall style.

The entire look was so earthy and simple. Her hair was naturally curly and highlighted. Her bronze makeup and beaded choker were perfectly paired the subtle sexiness of her outfits. This may have been the first time I truly admired her style. These are a couple of videos that best display Janet's influential look...

I would love to create photos that have the same overall vibe and style. I've never forgotten this video.

Saks To Carry Plus-Size Fashion From High-End Labels

Today Perez Hilton announced that Saks Fifth Avenue will be carrying plus size fashions from high end labels. Some of these labels include; Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana, Alexander McQueen, YSL, Fendi and Roberto Cavali!
I don't know about you but, I am seriously hoping this is in fact true. I am already saving my pennies so I can make some lavish purchase from them! Looks like my dream of a "fashion utopia" may be coming to fruition! Let's keep our fingers crossed ladies!

Love this look from "He's Just Not That Into You"

As some of you may know, I am a movie buff. I have no qualms about watching movie after movie on an uneventful Sunday (ok sometimes Saturday or even Thursday... well you get the point) and often times my focus moves away from the plot and the acting and onto the wardrobe.

I am not usually a "chick flick" person but I have to admit I've seen "He's Just Not That Into You" several times now. The more I see it the more I love this outfit Anna (Scarlett Johansson) wears. It is so feminine... so my style! It's just a pretty summer dress in a muted tone. But the best part isn't the dress... it's the slip under the dress. As you can see from the clip, the dress is almost a muted shade of olive and gold. The slip under her dress is THE POP of color. It not only allows her to wear a bra for support, it also compliments the entire outfit making it much more visually appealing. It's form and function at it's best and definitely a look I would like to try myself. Kudos to the wardrobe stylist!

Mini or Maxi?

Now that it is mid July here in NY. There is no denying the heat. In this weather I love to wear dresses to stay cool while still looking pulled together. Recently I went dress shopping at REDRESS boutique in Brooklyn. I decided it was time to get some mini dresses (most of my dresses hit right above the knee or at the knee). These dresses are well above the knee at least for me...

I am definitely happy with my new dresses but it got me wondering... which length do most women prefer? Do you like Mini or Maxi dresses? I would love to hear which you like best and why. All comments welcomed!

Personally, I think I am more of a Maxi girl. While I love all dresses, there just seems to be more grace in a maxi dress. It's free flowing in the wind and you don't have to worry about ummm... "
exposure" when sitting down in public. LOL!
